The Book of Mormon Meets iPod

Yes, it was bound to happen. The Book of Mormon has now been translated to fit your iPod. Ok, translated may be a slight exaggeration; however, you can, and have been able for some time to be able to listen to Nephi and all the gang's exploits as you walk, drive, or do anything you can do with an iPod. LDSAudio.com, an LDS media company is offering a free Book of Mormon download on their website here. There's no reason now, why you can't listen to the Book of Mormon before the end of the year and meet the Prophet's challenge to have read (I think listening will fulfill this challenge as well) the Book of Mormon by the end of the year.

LDSAudio.com also has a great inventory of other items on their website worth looking at. There are scores of talks, including one by Richard Bushman on Joseph Smith, which I'm going to purchase. There are also several sale items for the holidays, if you are in need of some gift ideas. (Daphne are you reading this?)

Doug Smith, President of LDS Media, Inc. discussed the free download and their website:

For the holiday season, LDSAudio.com is offering FREE MP3 downloads of The Book of Mormon and two Christmas songs. To download the free audio programs, site visitors can click on the promotion link on the main page of the site.

"We started offering a free download of the Book of Mormon two years ago," explains Doug Smith, President of LDS Media. "Since then, we've made more than 600 LDS books, talks, and albums available in MP3 format. Our customers use them on their iPods, computers, and other compatible devices."

According to Mr. Smith, sales started slowly but have grown steadily. "When we started few people understood what 'digital audio' was, let alone MP3 files. But we now see that people are hungry for more LDS content to play on their computers and MP3 players."

On a somewhat related, and clever post over at The Spinozist Mormon, Christian Cardall gives the iPod a distinctive historical, and some what prophetic link here. Happy listening!

Does the narrator have a Utah accent?

Kim has a good point. I would totally download it if it was read with a British accent, not so much if it sounds like General Conference.

Also, how many hours long is this? It's got to be a lot. I don't think everyone has that much time to listen to headphones before the end of the year.

Kim and Nflanders . . .thanks for stopping by and commenting. I haven't heard the recording . . . so I don't know. (But I may soon, since my reading is lagging). But, you'd be surprised how much listening you can do during the course of a regular day. There still might be time to finish it off before the end of the year.
